Overview
The Chronicler spends his days copying texts older than the Library itself. He has known for months that a particular volume — The Era of Portals — is missing three pages. Recent reports place them in the wider Realm: one stained with marsh water, one walled up in the Fortress, one held by a villager who does not know what they carry.
Lost Pages is an exploration Side Quest that rewards players who have travelled the full Phase 1 map. Each page is a small puzzle: a Perception check, a stone-wall inscription, or a dialogue chain. None require combat, but two of the locations sit inside hostile territory.
The lore reward is substantial: two Codex entries (Era of Portals and The Forgetting Origin) that reframe the entire backstory you have collected so far — and grant +1 Insight, which can be the deciding stat for the MQ-3 Insight 8+ path.
Objectives
- Collect Codex pages (0/3).
- Return them to The Chronicler.
Walkthrough
Step 1 — Speak with The Chronicler
Visit the Ancient Library. Accept the quest. He marks three regions on your map: Whispering Marsh, Ruined Fortress, Misty Village.
Step 2 — Page of the Marsh
Travel to the easternmost Marsh tile (same tile as the hidden lantern detour in MQ-2). A half-submerged altar holds the sodden page. Perception 5 reveals it automatically; otherwise interact with each rock until found.
Step 3 — Page of the Fortress
Inside the Forgotten Fortress, find the Hall of Banners. A wall inscription reads: "Speak the name that does not echo." The answer is Aldric (from MQ-2 dialogue). The stone slides open, revealing the page.
Step 4 — Page of the Village
Back in Misty Village, speak with the Elder, then Merchant Thorn, then Old Maren in that order. Maren remembers a folded page among her late husband's papers and gifts it freely.
Step 5 — Return to the Library
Deliver all three pages. The Chronicler unlocks both Codex entries and grants the +1 Insight bonus.
Rewards
| Reward | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Experience | 120 XP | |
| Avalon Coin | 40 | |
| Insight | +1 permanent | Crucial for MQ-3 Path C |
| Codex: Era of Portals | 1 entry | Foundational lore |
| Codex: The Forgetting Origin | 1 entry | Reveals creator of The Forgetting |
Tips
- Always do this before MQ-3. The +1 Insight is the cheapest way to qualify for Path C.
- Pick up the Marsh page on the same trip as MQ-2. Skip a second crossing.
- Maren's dialogue chain is shorter if you have already completed SQ-1.
- Save before the Fortress page — the puzzle answer locks for 5 minutes after a wrong guess.

Frequently Asked Questions
What level should I be for Lost Pages?
Level 4. Page 2 is inside the Forgotten Fortress, which means you must have completed MQ-2 first.
Do the pages count toward Insight 8 for MQ-3?
Yes. Completing Lost Pages grants +1 Insight, which combined with Mentalist class and the LQ-1 article often pushes you over the threshold.
I missed the Marsh page during MQ-2 — can I return?
Yes. The Marsh remains open after MQ-2. The page only spawns after you accept Lost Pages, so a missed pre-trigger trip is not a loss.
What is in the Codex entries?
Era of Portals and The Forgetting Origin — two foundational lore entries that explain why Avalon exists at all.
