Avalon Class Guide

Seer — Class Guide

Realm-affinity: Mystical Sanctum · Role: Magic · Support · Glass-cannon · Difficulty: ★★☆

Class Overview

The Seer is Avalon's keeper of forgotten truths — a fragile, brilliant mage who hears the island speak in voices no other class can perceive. Where the Rogue trusts steel and the Mentalist trusts logic, the Seer trusts the resonance of old runes, the flicker of ghost-light at the edge of vision, and the slow burn of mana running through cold fingers. This is not a class for impatient players. Every encounter begins long before the first die is rolled: you read the room, you scan for hidden glyphs with Spirit Vision, you whisper a Rune Reading to identify the threat, and only then do you commit your limited mana to a precise strike.

In gameplay terms, the Seer is a glass cannon with the best magical damage scaling in Phase 1 and the deepest interaction with the Mystical Sanctum. NPCs treat you differently the moment you reveal yourself as a Seer — the Chronicler shares secrets she withholds from others, Sir Aldric's ghost recognises your aura, and even Merchant Thorn keeps a private shelf of magical reagents for buyers who can name them in the old tongue. The cost is fragility. Two solid hits at level one will kill you. Master patience and the Seer rewards it with the richest lore experience in the game.

Starting Skills

SkillMP CostEffectCooldown
Spirit Vision 10 Reveals hidden objects, ghost trails and magical residue within the current location for 5 turns. Unlocks lore dialogue. 3 turns
Rune Reading 15 Deciphers a magical inscription, trap glyph or enemy weakness. Reduces enemy elemental resistance by 25% for 2 turns. 4 turns
Arcane Shield 20 Absorbs the next 30 + (INT×2) points of incoming damage. Lasts 2 turns or until depleted. 5 turns

Attribute Priority

The Seer's stat distribution is the most lopsided of any class. Mistakes here cost more than they would on a Rogue:

  1. Intelligence (priority #1) — every point increases magical damage by ~1.5× and expands your maximum MP pool. Push INT to 20 before anything else.
  2. Willpower — boosts MP regeneration and mental resistance. Critical against Memoria Wraiths and the Whispering Shade.
  3. Perception — unlocks hidden Codex entries, trap detection and the rarest dialogue branches.
  4. Strength & Stealth — ignore. You will not win physical fights and you cannot out-stealth a Rogue.

Recommended Builds

Three viable Seer builds for Phase 1 (level 1–20):

1. Pure Mage

The standard high-damage build. Stack Intelligence relentlessly and pick up every magical scroll you can afford. Arcane Shield is your only defensive tool — rotate it carefully. Best for boss fights and the final stretch of the Mystical Sanctum.

  • Stat order: INT → INT → WILL → PER
  • Key skills (level 1–10): Spirit Vision, Rune Reading, Arcane Shield, Mana Surge, Soul Lance
  • Carry: 4× Mana Potion, 3× Health Potion, 1× Spirit Tonic

2. Spirit Diplomat

A dialogue-first build that uses Spirit Vision and Rune Reading to bypass combat entirely. Invests in Perception for hidden conversation paths and in Charisma to seal pacts with non-hostile spirits. Slower XP gain but the richest narrative payoff.

  • Stat order: INT → PER → WILL → CHA
  • Key skills: Spirit Vision, Spectral Pact (level 4), Rune Reading, Soothing Resonance (level 7)
  • Carry: 2× Mana Potion, 2× Health Potion, 2× Moonpetal, 1× Memory Vial

3. Battlemage Hybrid

A late-bloomer build that splits points between INT and STR to wield enchanted weapons. Survives the early game better than Pure Mage but reaches its damage ceiling slower. Strong against the Keeper of the Old Ritual.

  • Stat order: INT → STR → INT → WILL
  • Key skills: Arcane Shield, Rune Reading, Flame Blade (level 5), Spirit Vision
  • Carry: Iron Sword (enchanted at the Sanctum altar), Leather Armor, 3× Health Potion, 2× Mana Potion

Best Starting Items (Merchant Thorn)

Visit Merchant Thorn at the Crossroads Market before you head into the Sanctum. The Seer's shopping list:

  • Health Potion ×3 — non-negotiable. With 80 HP you cannot afford a single missed dodge.
  • Mana Potion ×3 — sustains Arcane Shield rotations through long encounters.
  • Spirit Tonic ×1 — restores full MP in emergencies. Save for the Whispering Shade fight.
  • Moonpetal ×2 — crafting reagent for spirit-binding rituals; also pacifies low-tier wraiths.
  • Leather Armor — the only armour a Seer can wear without an INT penalty.
  • Torch — the Sanctum's deeper rooms are pitch-black and your Spirit Vision will not last forever.

Skip the Iron Sword unless you are running the Battlemage Hybrid. Skip the Shade Cloak — it is a Rogue item.

Combat Strategy

Opening (turn 1–2)

Open every encounter with Spirit Vision before you even see the enemy clearly. The MP cost is trivial and the information gained — weaknesses, hidden allies, escape routes — defines the rest of the fight. If the enemy is undead, follow up with Rune Reading to crack its elemental resistance.

Mid-game (turn 3–6)

This is where the Seer wins or dies. Cycle Arcane Shield on every cooldown; never let it lapse for more than one turn. Burn Mana Potions aggressively — they are cheaper than respawning. Against single targets, lead with Soul Lance once unlocked. Against groups, fall back and use the environment: doorways, narrow corridors, and the Sanctum's many alcoves all favour a slow caster.

Late-game (turn 7+)

By level 10 your Pure Mage will one-shot mooks with a single Soul Lance and ignore most physical threats behind a stacked Arcane Shield. The real danger is mana attrition: long dungeons drain you faster than they drain a Rogue. Always retreat to a safe room to rest if MP drops below 30. Bosses with multi-phase fights (the Forgotten Oracle) require you to ration mana across all three phases — do not spend everything in phase one.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Highest single-target magical damage in Phase 1
  • +20% Mana regeneration passive — sustains long magical sequences
  • Exclusive access to hidden magical objects and runic puzzles
  • Best lore experience of any class
  • Strongest synergy with the Order of the Veil faction

Weaknesses

  • Lowest HP pool (80) — dies to two solid physical hits at level 1
  • Negligible physical damage (STR 6)
  • Heavy preparation overhead — needs the right potions and scrolls before every dungeon
  • Mana-dependent — an MP-drained Seer is a corpse waiting to happen
  • Poor merchant prices compared to the Rogue

Synergies with Realms

The Seer's natural home is the Mystical Sanctum, where the +20% Mana regeneration bonus, the exclusive runic puzzles and the Order of the Veil faction all stack into a clear power curve. Spirit Vision reveals lore in every room. Rune Reading bypasses two boss puzzles outright.

Secondary fit is the Labyrinth of Minds — the Seer's high Perception detects most cognitive traps, though the Mentalist still does this better. Avoid the Court of Shadows until level 10; its assassins exploit your low HP and its merchants charge Seers full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Seer good for beginners in Avalon?

The Seer is medium-difficulty. It rewards careful preparation and lore exploration, but its low HP makes the first few levels punishing. New players who enjoy reading and puzzle-solving will find it deeply satisfying; pure combat players should pick the Rogue first.

What is the best Seer build in Avalon?

The Pure Mage build is the strongest single-target damage option. Stack Intelligence to 20, take Arcane Shield and Spirit Vision at level 1, and invest in Mana Potions every shop visit. By level 8 you will outdamage any other class against single bosses.

Which realm is best for the Seer class?

The Mystical Sanctum. It offers the +20% Mana regeneration bonus, exclusive runic puzzles only Seers can read, and access to the Order of the Veil faction.

What starting skills does the Seer have?

Three: Spirit Vision (reveals hidden objects and ghosts), Rune Reading (deciphers magical inscriptions and unlocks puzzles), and Arcane Shield (absorbs incoming damage for two turns).

How do I survive the early game as a Seer?

Always carry at least three Health Potions and two Mana Potions, never enter combat without Arcane Shield available, and prioritise Spirit Vision to scout encounters before engaging. Avoid the Marsh of Echoes until level 4.

Can the Seer multi-class in Avalon?

Multi-classing arrives in Phase 2. The Seer will be able to purchase Mentalist or Rogue skills at a steep gold cost, but cannot exceed level 10 in a secondary tree.
