Marketplace Guide

Three currencies, a dozen merchants, a rotating Daily Deals board, and a premium shop. Here’s how to get the most out of every coin and gem in Avalon.

💰 Currencies at a Glance

Avalon Coins (AC)

In-game earned currency — free to play

The standard currency earned through combat, quest rewards, and selling loot. Used at every in-world NPC merchant. Cannot be purchased for real money — you earn it by playing.

How to earnEnemy drops, quest rewards, selling items to merchants
Best usesHealing Salves (early), gear upgrades (Realm II), Clarity Potion & Lens (Realm III)
Sell back rateMerchant Thorn: 40%; The Nexus Trader: 45%
CapNone

Don't hoard AC in Realm I. Upgrade gear before the Veil Warden fight rather than saving for Realm II — Realm II drops enough AC to recover quickly.

Portal Gems (PG)

Premium currency — purchased in the shop

The premium currency of Avalon, purchased via The Nexus Market using real money. Spent exclusively on cosmetics, visual effects, player titles, and convenience items. Portal Gems never purchase gameplay advantages.

How to earnPurchase via Nexus Market (see packages below)
Best usesWeapon skins, character titles, combat effects
Does NOT buyStats, damage bonuses, quest skips — cosmetic only
ExpiryNever — PG does not expire

Knowledge Crystals (KC)

Codex reward currency — exploration & lore

Earned by discovering Codex entries, speaking with The Chronicler, and completing lore objectives. KC is spent in a separate Codex Shop for unique cosmetics unavailable in the premium shop.

How to earnCodex entries (10–20 KC each), Chronicler reviews (5 KC each)
Best usesCodex-exclusive titles, Archivist cosmetic set (250 KC)
Total available~1250 KC in a single complete playthrough
