Marketplace Guide
Three currencies, a dozen merchants, a rotating Daily Deals board, and a premium shop. Here’s how to get the most out of every coin and gem in Avalon.
💰 Currencies at a Glance
Avalon Coins (AC)
In-game earned currency — free to play
The standard currency earned through combat, quest rewards, and selling loot. Used at every in-world NPC merchant. Cannot be purchased for real money — you earn it by playing.
| How to earn | Enemy drops, quest rewards, selling items to merchants |
|---|---|
| Best uses | Healing Salves (early), gear upgrades (Realm II), Clarity Potion & Lens (Realm III) |
| Sell back rate | Merchant Thorn: 40%; The Nexus Trader: 45% |
| Cap | None |
Don't hoard AC in Realm I. Upgrade gear before the Veil Warden fight rather than saving for Realm II — Realm II drops enough AC to recover quickly.
Portal Gems (PG)
Premium currency — purchased in the shop
The premium currency of Avalon, purchased via The Nexus Market using real money. Spent exclusively on cosmetics, visual effects, player titles, and convenience items. Portal Gems never purchase gameplay advantages.
| How to earn | Purchase via Nexus Market (see packages below) |
|---|---|
| Best uses | Weapon skins, character titles, combat effects |
| Does NOT buy | Stats, damage bonuses, quest skips — cosmetic only |
| Expiry | Never — PG does not expire |
Knowledge Crystals (KC)
Codex reward currency — exploration & lore
Earned by discovering Codex entries, speaking with The Chronicler, and completing lore objectives. KC is spent in a separate Codex Shop for unique cosmetics unavailable in the premium shop.
| How to earn | Codex entries (10–20 KC each), Chronicler reviews (5 KC each) |
|---|---|
| Best uses | Codex-exclusive titles, Archivist cosmetic set (250 KC) |
| Total available | ~1250 KC in a single complete playthrough |
Exhaust all dialogue trees with every NPC — each unique branch is a separate Codex entry. Rushing through conversations leaves hundreds of KC uncollected.
💎 Portal Gem Packages
| Package | Portal Gems | Bonus | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traveller's Pouch | 100 PG | — | Single cosmetic item, trying out the shop |
| Seeker's Hoard | 500 PG | +50 bonus PG (10%) | One weapon skin + a title |
| Realm Vault | 1200 PG | +180 bonus PG (15%) | Full cosmetic set + effect bundle |
| The Grand Archive | 2500 PG | +500 bonus PG (20%) | All available cosmetics with PG to spare |
The Realm Vault at 1200 PG offers the best value per gem. It covers a full armour skin, a weapon skin, one title, and one combat effect with PG left over.
